Thank you Bill Bennett for writing a book that is not only full of wonderful information but is also easy to understand. As a novice photographer who takes more than my share of photos ON AUTO setting, it has been a delight to experiment with the information I have gained from this book. Bill Bennett writes with such an easy and humorous style that I never felt as if he was the teacher, more like a friend who took the time to explain to me how to get the best shots from my camera. I've had so much fun getting out and experimenting with my camera that I know my future endeavours will reflect the knowledge that I have gained. This book provides information on different types of cameras, tech information, great photos and speaks to all levels.
How to capture your camino experience in good photos? Bill Bennett has written an excellent book on how to shoot memorable images of a camino. When you go on such an exciting journey, you want to record your memories the best way possible. To this end, it is a balance between carrying a heavy and advanced, or a light and easy operable camera. In the book Bill Bennett gives a detailed review on every aspect of this issue, including detailed guidelines on lighting, camera settings and angles, and type of camera. Hi also gives valuable advice on picture composition and objects. In my opinion is this an excellent book for us who are going on camino and want to take good images for our personal memories and for showing to friends and family afterwards.
Photo Camino is a wonderful read, full of incredible photographic tips and insight that I'm now not only stopping and appreciating others photography with a more learned eye, but finding myself trying to study light, composition and subject with my own amateur attempts.
Bennett has a wonderful knack in keeping the technicalities to a minimum and making the reader feel that they too can accomplish their own wonderful photographs.
A very funny and personal approach to his writing, Bennett takes you on a photographic journey along "The Way" that I really didn't expect.

“Photo Camino” is the second book by author and filmmaker Bill Bennett centred around The Camino Frances in Spain. This time the author is imparting his considerable photographic knowledge to the reader, as he explores the unique opportunities and problems that present themselves to Pilgrims who are hoping to capture a photographic diary of their journey on The Way.
Using his trademark humour, Bennett presents an astonishing amount of easy to read information that even to a novice photographer (like myself!) never gets bogged down in technicalities. Aimed at amateur photographers who are wanting to keep a photographic record of their journey whether for personal, social media or professional use, the book is broken down in easy to follow chapters, covering everything from what camera to consider, charging your devices in the unique accommodation on The Way, to learning to open your ‘photographic eye’.
There is plenty of technical information for those who are wanting to increase their understanding of the photographic process, but these are sectioned off in “Techie Talk” areas that make skimming easy (for those of us feeling photographically challenged), while the more basic information regarding shot composition, framing etc is written with such good humour that it makes reading, and learning a joy.
Packed with loads of Bennett's photos, including explanations of the process that went in to each shot, and full of anecdotes of his photographic journey, “Photo Camino” is a must read for anyone interested in either photography, or contemplating their own pilgrimage. The principles related in this book will help any budding photographer improve their knowledge and skill set.
